Citywide Streets Improvements

Expected to include eight major transportation projects:

Common Street (Loop 337 to FM 306)
Project Cost: $24,783,0000
Details:

  • Widen Common Street to a four lane road with sidewalks and the addition of medians, left turn lanes, and two-way left turn lanes
  • New or upgraded traffic signals at major intersections
  • Improved drainage infrastructure

 

Barbarosa Road/Saur Lane (FM 1101 to Saengerhalle Road)
Project Cost: $7,625,000
Details:

  • Widen Barbarosa Road/Saur Lane from two lanes to four lanes
  • Turn lanes and traffic signal improvements at major intersections
  • Improved drainage infrastructure

 

Citywide Street Improvements
Project Cost: $20,000,000
Details:

  • Rehabilitate existing city street pavement, curbs, and sidewalks
  • Enhance safety and improve pavement markings and signing
  • Repair or address curb and sidewalk gaps
  • Rehabilitate existing city street pavement based on City’s Pavement Management Program

 

Kohlenberg Road (FM 1101 to IH 35)
Project Cost: $14,332,000
Details:

  • Widen Kohlenberg Raod from a two-lane to a four-lane road
  • Turn lanes at major intersections
  • New Traffic Signal at FM 1101
  • Improved drainage infrastructure

 

Conrads Lane (Goodwin Lane to FM 1102)
Project Cost: $11,802,000
Details:

  • Improve existing two-lane road with turn lanes at major intersections
  • Turn lanes and traffic signal improvements at major intersections
  • Improved drainage infrastructure
  • Improved railroad crossing
  • Coordination with Comal County and TxDOT to extend project past city limits to FM 1102

 

South Kowald Lane (FM 1101 to IH 35)
Project Cost: $10,739,000
Details:

  • Improve existing two-lane road with center turn lane
  • Turn lanes and traffic signals at major intersections
  • Improved drainage infrastructure

 

Citywide Intersection Improvements
Project Cost: $5,210,000
Details:

  • New traffic signal installation
  • Intersection reconstruction

 

Solms Road (IH 35 to FM 482)
Project Cost: $4,839,000
Details:

  • Improve existing road with additional turn lanes and sidewalks
  • Additional turn lanes
  • Improved drainage infrastructure
